Alfi Media is a training and production company established by directors Ali Rusted and Fiona Cotterill in 2007.
At Alfi, we pride ourselves in delivering highly interactive, fun but challenging courses in communication and the media. Since founding Alfi, we have trained people from around the world and across a range of industries in how to communicate more effectively.
As award winning producers, Alfi make exciting video and audio content for the likes of the BBC, Channel 4, TMG, IPC and the Open University.
Alison - The Al of Alfi - is a communications and media expert with 20-cough years' experience in the media. She specialises in working one-to-one with top executives, shaping their presentations and their delivery and helping them shine on stage, on radio and tv and in corporate broadcast communications. Ali is also one of the UK's leading sports media trainers, working with athletes and administrators on their interview and presentation techniques.
Before Alfi Media, Ali was an editor at the BBC. She launched digital stations Radio 4 Extra and 5 Live Sports Extra, and commissioned television sports programming for BBC Choice/3. She led 5 Live's Sony Award-winning coverage of England's Rugby World Cup victory in Australia and worked on major sports and news events including General Elections, Royal weddings and funerals. Ali has worked with some of the biggest names in TV and radio including Clive Anderson, Michael Parkinson, Clare Balding, Len Goodman and John Inverdale.
Fiona, who is, therefore, the Fi in Alfi, founded Alfi Media after many years as a producer and manager at the BBC and in the independent sector. At Alfi she's found herself training people in an amazing mix of locations - from the back of speed boats to a shoot with the Sugababes (NB she is happy to train in your standard training or conference room!!). Equally at home in the arts, business, politics and sport, Fiona is an innovative trainer, responsible for creating many of Alfi's new courses. She's one of the UK's leading trainers in social media, and works with many sports in the UK to help them develop their understanding of it as a modern powerful communication tool.
Fiona has worked on numerous Alfi productions, including the highly commended Black Men Can't Swim for BBC Radio 4, Len Goodman's Dancing Years for Radio 2, live stand up for E4 and the Open University's research project on Enduring Love (see Productions).
Before Alfi Media Fiona ran the UK's biggest independent radio production company, Unique and was part of the management of BBC Radio 5 Live. A Sony award-winning producer, she is now, like Ali, a Sony Radio Academy Awards judge.
When not training our future broadcasting stars and making programmes, Fiona can usually be found on a boat or half way up Everest.
